Welcome to The Elegant Butterfly blog!
The most common problems that I have seen with buyers are they download the svg files, try and open the files and get the little internet explore icon.
I will you give you the explantions of why this happens.
- Windows will associate one program with one file type, it then tries to open the appropriate program when you double-click on a file.
- If you have never opened a SVG file from your computer,Windows thinks it can handle opening the file. This results in your browser trying to open the file.
How you need to fix this problem.
You need to go in and tell Windows exactly what program you want it to associate with SVG files. This will correct your problem and from this point on when you try to open an SVG file, it will use this same program untill you decide to change it to another program.
Directions on Telling Windows What Program to use.
- Right click on the SVG File you would like to open.
- Click on open with and this should allow you to choose a program you want to open your file with.
There are dozens of programs that you can purchase or download to open your files to use with your machine. Most machines come with software for you to use.
After purchasing your machine read your manual to find out which program you will need to use as well as what type of files. All machines don't take the same type of files. For example Silhouette takes DXF unless you have the Designer software that is optional for you to purchase.
Thanks for taking the time to read my blog! I hope this clears up the confusion on "Why Does my PC try to open my downloaded SVG files with Internet Explore?"
